Adding Social Metadata to Integrations

Overview

Social metadata is system generated data that is captured from the originating social platform (LinkedIn or Facebook) and can be used for lead routing and tracking. See our Social Metadata Overview article for more details including a full list of our available social metadata fields and features.

In this article we’ll cover how to add social metadata to the following outbound integrations to send alongside your lead data.

  • Marketo
  • HTTP Raw

Coming Soon: The ability to add social metadata to more MA/CRM integrations.

Adding Social Metadata to Integrations

Navigate to your Social Source > Integrations tab(1a) and open your existing Integration(1b). (Example is shown as Marketo but applies for any Integration type.)

Within the Available Tokens sidebar(2a), use the dropdown to view the Social Metadata fields(2b)

Locate your desired field from the list and click the copy markup icon(3a) to copy the corresponding token to your clipboard.

Alternatively, to expose all tokens at once, you may switch the Friendly Names toggle(3b) to OFF. From there you can manually select and copy tokens.

Now that your token is copied, follow the instructions below specific to your Integration type to paste and insert the metadata field accordingly.

Please Note:

  • You can add Social metadata tokens to a Source at any time. If the Source has already launched, metadata will be captured for leads going forward. Metadata cannot be pulled in retroactively.
  • Social metadata will not populate when testing your MA/CRM integration within the Orchestrate sandbox. These fields will appear blank in your test post-out string but will populate correctly with metadata when real leads are passed.

Marketo REST

Within our native Marketo REST integration, social metadata tokens can be added within the Program Settings or Mapping section(4a).

Select the Custom Field(4b) option in the Field column. Under the Output column, select the Marketo field(4c) you wish to pass this information into. Within the open text area under the Custom column, paste the copied token(4d).

Repeat the steps above to add all tokens to output fields as needed.

If desired, you may also add any other additional text or tokens within the open text area. For example: “Form ID: {{append.social.formid}}” will add the static text before the token value like this… “Form ID: 1284071324187800”

HTTP Raw

Within an HTTP raw integration, social metadata tokens can be added within the Headers(5a) or Body(5b) sections.

Follow the syntax for your HTTP raw integration, identify where you would like the metadata to populate and paste in the copied token within that field.(5c)

Repeat the steps above to add all tokens to output fields as needed.

If desired, you may also add any other additional text or tokens within the open text area. For example: “Form ID: {{append.social.formid}}” will add the static text before the token value like this… “Form ID: 1284071324187800”
