Configure Eloqua Closed Loop Media Optimizer to Deduplicate Against Eloqua Contact Database

The Closed Loop Media Optimizer automatically provides feedback from your Eloqua account into Integrate for lead status updates based on events, life-cycle changes, rejections, quality, and other KPIs.

How To
You will need to access your Eloqua account and your Integrate account. It is recommended that you are logged into both accounts and have them both open before you begin.

1. Install the Closed Loop Media Optimizer app in Eloqua.
Click here to install the Closed Loop Media Optimizer app in Eloqua. Follow the prompts to sign in, accept, and install.

2.  Assign a dedicated Integrate ID in the Eloqua contact object.
A dedicated Integrate ID is required in the Eloqua contact object for the Closed Loop Media Optimizer app to work properly with Integrate

Click the Settings icon(1), then click Fields & Views(2).

Click Contact Fields(3), then click the Plus icon(4) at the bottom of the window to expand the list of options.

Click Add Contact Field(5).

In the General section, enter a Display name (e.g., Integrate Lead ID)(6)

The Database name(7) will automatically populate based on display name. Keep the defaults for Data type(8), Field type(9), and Default Value(10). For Default Update Logic, click the drop-down arrow and select Update if new value is not blank(11).

In the Contact Field Options section, check the box for Do not pre-populate this field in Eloqua for Sales(12). Click Save(13).

3. Generate an API key from your Integrate account.
Log into your Integrate account and click the Settings icon(14).

Click the Organization Settings tab(15), then click GENERATE NEW KEY(16) and a new API key will appear in the list. Click Enter key name(17) to give this key a name you will remember (e.g., Eloqua Closed Loop Optimizer). Click the Copy Markup icon(18) to place the key on your computer’s clipboard.

4.  Configure the Closed Loop Media Optimizer and add to the Eloqua campaign canvas.
In Eloqua, navigate to Campaigns > Create a Multistep Campaign.

Click the Cloud icon(19) on the right side of the campaign canvas, then click Integrate Setup(20) to open the app configuration page.

Under API Version, select Integrate(21). In the Integrate API Key text box(22), paste the Integrate API key from your clipboard. Click the dropdown arrow for Integrate Lead ID Field and select the dedicated Integrate LeadID name that you created previously(23). Click Save(24).

Navigate back to the Multi-step Campaigns page campaign canvas and expand the Campaign Steps on the left side of the canvas. Locate the Closed Loop Media Optimizer and drag and drop into the canvas after the event you wish to use as a trigger for the Closed Loop Media Optimizer.

This is an example of a set-up of the Eloqua campaign.

To configure the Closed Loop Media Optimizer app in the campaign, double-click the app in the campaign canvas, then click the Pencil icon to edit the trigger.

This is an example of criteria for an Eloqua segment to determine if they already exist in the Eloqua database.

Note: You can add in extra criteria to include or exclude contacts from the campaign if they have already been engaged within a designated time frame (days, weeks, or months).
